    Help Map Critique

Working on a map for a book I'm currently writing. There are still lots to complete ---the major rivers, rest of the names, the desert, and towns. But, I wanted to get everyones opinion or advice, does the mountain range technique i used mesh with the forest or should I have patterned it also.

Any suggestions on adding a desert and how should i represent a swamp?
I planned on usiong a little self-deined pattern for hills etc.

The coast on the right is fine but the coloring bothers me so I know it is poor condition, i want to improve the coastline but I don't know how to do that yet with the layer as such.

I think the mountains would look better if they were patterned to match the forest and roads. Just IMO, and that doesn't mean I think the map looks bad as is
