Default The Pacific Crossing (Commission WIP)

    Hi all,

This is a map I was planning to make for a friend over a year ago, covering her pacific crossing by sailboat. Unfortunately it was put on hold and I mostly forgot about it for a while. I was looking for some practice so I resurrected this beaut today and I am pretty close to finishing. I'm fairly satisfied with how my first globe map is turning out, I'm entirely new to the art.

The plan is to add some more illustration circles, a border, perhaps some background information, spice up the text, adjustments on brightness and contrast (do you guys think it should be brighter?) and possibly some rhumb lines or something to add eye candy to the ocean.

    Where it currently sits:

Here's a bit more on this one.

I'm curious what you guys think, is it better with, or without the lines and compass on the ocean? (that's J.Edward's nice free compass in there by the way)

Hmm, personally I think I prefer it without the lines and compass, it looks a little awkward with them in, maybe because it doesn't fit so much with the "handmade" feel of the rest of the map. Just my opinion though- it's a fantastic map either way!
